The Connecticut Huskies won their 12th NCAA women's basketball national championship during star guard Paige Bueckers' final college game.

The Huskies defeated defending national champion South Carolina, 82-59, during Sunday's game at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Bueckers, the top projected pick in the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft, recorded 24 points, three assists, six rebounds, two blocks and one steal, while teammates Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd each finished with a team-best 24 points.

UConn (37-3) outscored South Carolina (35-4) in all four quarters, entering the fourth quarter with a 62-42 advantage. The Huskies entered Sunday's game having already won a record 11 NCAA women's basketball national championships, all of which came under current head coach Geno Auriemma, the winningest coach in the sport's history.

Bueckers, the winner of the 2025 Wade Trophy, given to NCAA women's basketball's best player, concludes her career as the third all-time leading scorer in UConn history trailing only Naismith Memorial Basketball and Women's Basketball Hall of Famer, four-time WNBA champion and former WNBA MVP Maya Moore and three-time WNBA champion and two-time WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart.
