The wife of a newly acquired New York Yankees player previously dated one of his teammates.
Chase Carter, the wife of former National League MVP Cody Bellinger, had previously dated Giancarlo Stanton for two years prior to meeting her husband in person. Carter, 27, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, dated Stanton, 35, from 2018 to 2019 and reportedly moved on to Bellinger, 29, shortly after their breakup, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to Page Six.
Additionally, Carter had reportedly first connected with Bellinger on social media in 2017 and they "remained pen pals" until finally meeting "in person" in 2020.
“True love story: I followed him, he followed me back,” Carter said in a since-expired Instagram story.
One source claimed that the pairing of Bellinger and Stanton was an "odd work situation," while another insisted the "past is in the past" and that the two players are "professionals." The Yankees acquired Bellinger and cash in exchange for right-handed reliever Cody Poteet, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Passan on Tuesday (December 17).
Bellinger hit for a .266 average with 18 home runs and 78 RBIs during the 2024 MLB season, his second with the Cubs. The Arizona native spent his first six seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, which included two All-Star appearances as a rookie in 2017, as well as during his 2019 NL MVP season, while also winning a World Series during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
