President-elect Donald Trump's favorability rating reached a personal best, while President Joe Biden's sank to an all-time low, according to an Emerson College poll released on Tuesday (November 26).
Trump, 78, is reported to have a 54% approval rating and a 46% disapproval rating, which is higher than any point during his first term, according to Gallup. Biden, 82, is reported to have a 36% approval rating and a 52% disapproval rating, his lowest reported numbers at any point during his four-year term.
Trump improved by six points since the 2024 presidential election, having entered with a 48%, and two points the Harvard/CAPS Harris poll conducted earlier this month.
“Trump’s favorability varies significantly by gender, race, and age,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling. “Trump’s strongest age cohort is among voters 40-59, with 60% viewing him favorably, compared to 48% among those over 70. Notably, his favorability has risen among younger voters, with 55% of those under 30 expressing a favorable opinion.”
Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris and became the first Republican candidate to win the popular vote in 20 years during the 2024 presidential election. The former president won 312 electoral college votes, as well as all seven projected swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of which he'd previously lost to Biden during the 2020 election.
