Dallas Cowboys All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons responded after head coach Mike McCarthy said the team was preparing to play in Sunday's (October 4) game against the Pittsburgh Steelers without him as he recovers from a high-ankle sprain.
"Man, it's like, just frustrating, for real," Parsons said via ESPN. "Going from being ready and being there for the team, to being out hurts me because I feel like I'm letting people down."
Parsons, 25, who has only missed one game due to COVID-19 during his four-year NFL career, was carted off the field during the fourth quarter of the Cowboys' 20-15 Thursday Night Football road win against the NFC East Division rival New York Giants. The All-Pro linebacker's timetable has not yet been determined, however, the Cowboys have extra days off after playing in a Thursday night game, as well as an upcoming bye week after games against the Steelers and Detroit Lions, which could limit how much time is missed.
Parsons was seen walking with a limp as he left MetLife Stadium Thursday night in footage captured by WFAA.
Parsons was selected by the Cowboys at No. 12 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and quickly emerged as one of the league's best defensive players. The former Penn State standout was the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year and has been selected as an All-Pro and Pro Bowler during each of his first three NFL seasons.
