In an interview with "The Cipher," New Edition superstar Bobby Brown said that he was the one who taught the late Michael Jackson how to do the moonwalk.
For those who aren't aware of this dance's backstory, members of the group Shalamar have been credited for teaching this move to the King of Pop. Now, Brown is saying that he is the one who schooled Jackson on the classic dance.
While sitting down with "The Cipher," the singer/dancer revealed: “I had a few moves that was just super. Plus, I was the first one in Orchard Park to do the moonwalk. So, the moonwalk was one of my signature moves… I had brought it up from down South. It was something that just killed the game once I brought it up the East Coast.”
Brown continued: “Actually, I was the one that taught Michael how to do it... We was poppin,’ he was watchin’ us pop. He saw me do the moonwalk. And he [asked], ‘What is that?’ And I did it again. He just watched it, and he just started doin’ it.” Brown added that even though he supposedly taught MJ the dance, Jackson perfected it.
Hmmm, we wonder what Shalamar's Jeffery Daniel has to say about this...
